They presented Henry Townsend for not laying the ancient road leading in Shipton fields in Lambs Leaze Furlong according to the order made at the court on 26 April 1682. Amerced 40s.

John Jurding died since the last court seised of a cottage. He had three daughters who are his next heirs. First proclamation made. [see below]

On 25 March 1684 Martha Plested surrendered by Edward Redding and Robert Spooner a messuage in Winslow with gardens, barns, stables etc., now in the occupation of Nicholas Plested her husband. To his use for his life, then to the infant now born of Martha's body, then to Martha's heirs. Nicholas sought to be admitted. Rent 4d, fine 5s. Voide by Le Custome.
[Martha, daughter of Nicholas and Martha Pleasted, was bap. 30 March 1684 and buried on 24 May. Martha the mother was buried on 6 April. Nicholas Pleasted married Lucy Shelton on 19 Aug.]

William Meade surrendered a messuage containing 2 bays with a barn adjoining, in which he now lives. To the use of John Meade his son who sought admission. Rent 1d, fine 5s.

[f.1v] On 21 March 1683 Richard North and Elizabeth his wife surrendered by John Ambrough and Thomas Godwyn a messuage or cottage with close adjoining in Shipton. To the use of themselves and Richard's heirs. Richard sought admission. Rent 4d, fine 5s.

Charles Bowler and Jane his wife surrendered a parcel of Lay Ground in Shipton Cow pasture with a cow common in a furlong called Short Foxton containing 1 acre, the land of William Townesend jr south. To the use of Mary Tomaling who sought admission. Rent 3d, fine 2s.

Frances Glenister widow surrendered a messuage with buildings, courtyards, garden and close adjoining. To the use of Elizabeth Glenister, one of the daughters of Francis Glenister, late of Winslow, grocer. Elizabeth sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 5s.

Richard Seaton surrendered the messuage in Winslow in which he now lives and all his lands in Winslow containing 10 acres:

To the use of Richard Seaton and Elizabeth his wife for their lives, then Richard Seaton their son and Ann his wife and the heirs of their bodies, or for default Richard jr's heirs. Richard and Elizabeth and Richard and Ann sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 40s.

Thomas Marcham and Ann his wife surrendered a messuage in Winslow adjoining the tenement of Ann Atwood widow on the south and the messuage of Thomas Bigge on the north. To the use of Stephen Bigg, who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 5s.

Thomas Elliott, son and heir of Ann Elliott deceased, surrendered 2 acres of land in Shipton at Vernham, the land of Richard Phipps north, abutting Swanborne Feild at one end, Shipton Cowpasture at the other. To the use of Henry Townesend who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 4s.

[f.2r] Thomas Robson and Ann his wife and Faith Robson widow his mother surrendered these lands in Winslow and Shipton:

In all 30 acres, and all Thomas' other lands in Winslow and Shipton except a close of meadow near Greeneborow brooke and a messuage of Thomas' in Winslow with orchard, so that the passage lately used at the messuage in the leys of Mr Lowndes to the end of the stable in future will be completely excluded. To the use of William Lowndes, gent., who sought admission. Fine £3 16s.

William Lowndes, gent., surrendered 55 acres of land in Winslow, late the customary land of William Spooner sr and by him and his wife surrendered to William Lowndes. To the use of William Lowndes for his life, then to Jane his now wife in addition to her jointure, then to the heirs of William's body. William Lowndes sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 5s.

Thomas Deely jr and Martha his wife surrendered 6 ridges in Winslow in Mill feild between the Old Mill and the New Mill in a furlong called Bubles Gore or Mill Furlong, a land of widow Kirby south, a land of John Seaton south [sic]. To the use of Ann Deely his daughter who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 4s, fealty respited.
[Thomas Deely acquired this land in 1683. His daughter Ann was aged 11.]

Thomas Deely sr surrendered:

containing 4 acres. To his own use for his life, then to his grandson Thomas Deely son of Thomas Deely jr, on condition that Thomas the grandson after the death of Thomas sr pays at the house of Thomas jr in Winslow to Ann Wyatt, now wife of Henry Wyatt, each year of her life 20s on 1 May and 1 Nov in equal portions. If he defaults for 14 days after payment is due, then the premisses are to the use of Ann Wyatt until payment is made. Thomas sr and Thomas the grandson sought admission. Fine 8s. Thomas the grandson's fealty was respited.

On 15 Nov 1683 Silvester Claver of Winslow surrendered by William Elliott his attorney through William Cherry esq. chief steward all his land in the parish of Winslow near Granboroughbridge abutting on the public road leading from Winslow to the bridge on the west, and on Granboroughbrooke on the south, containing 9 acres. And a piece of arable land and meadow in Winslow near Claydon bridge abutting on the public road from Winslow to the bridge to the south, part adjoining Claydon brooke, containing 3 acres. To the use of Robert Adams of Swanborne, gent., provided that if Silvester pays him £130 with interest computed from 15 Nov last at 5% interest at the next court, then it is to be void. By reason of non-payment the surrender is absolute. 1st proclamation made for Robert Adams.
[Robert was admitted at the next court. This land was mortgaged by Robert Gibbs and Robert Adams in 1701]

Elizabeth, Ann and Mary Jurding, daughters of John Jurding late deceased, sought admission to a cottage which came into the lord's hands on John's death. Rent [blank], fine 5s, fealty respited. Ann Jurding their mother was assigned guardianship.

Susanna Bavin widow and Thomas Rand and Alice his wife surrendered a messuage in Winslow and a close called Dirty Mead Close containing 2 acres, and 2 lands or Leyes in the fields of Shipton, now in the possession of Susanna and Thomas. to the use of Nathaniel Kent of Buckingham, Tallow Chandler, who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 11s.

On 5 May 1684 John Norman surrendered through John Hendly and Christopher Coates a land in Old Mill Feild in a furlong called Westcotmore, the land of William Edmunds north, widow Stutsberry south. To the use of Elizabeth Norman his daughter who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 1s, fealty respited.

[f.3v] Thomas Gubbins surrendered a messuage in Winslow now in the possession of Thomas Ridgeward adjoining the Church Yard. To the use of Frances Gubbins his daughter who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 8s, fealty respited.
[Frances married Michael Ginger in 1695. They sold the messuage to Thomas Wright in 1701.]

Stephen Bigg and Mary his wife surrendered a messuage in Winslow late in the possession of William Lovett, the land of widow Adwood south, Thomas Bigg north. To the use of Nicholas Miller and Joan his wife who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 5s.

Thomas Bigg died since the last court seised of a cottage in Winslow. Thomas Bigg his son and next heir sought admission. Fine 5s, fealty respited.

William Eden died since the last court seised of:

[William's death was reported at the 1683 court, but see below for a deathbed surrender of all this property and some more. The property seems to have come into the possession of George Knight by 1693, probably by mortgage.]

John Dymocke and Jane his wife surrendered a messuage in Sheepestreete in Winslow now in the possession of John Dymocke and Richard Purchase, with all buildings, barns, stables, orchard, garden, etc. To the use of Harris Smith of Padbury, gent., on condition to be void on payment of £105: 50s on 17 April next, £102 10s on 17 Oct 1685. Harris Smith sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 5s.

Christopher Coates and Alice his wife surrendered an messuage in Winslow in which widow Norman now lives: all that "an entry" and so going up to the top of the messuage, and as much of the Garden Plott as extends to the end of the house and belongs to the house in which Christopher now lives. To the use of Jane Nash of Swanborne, spinster. Rent [blank], fine 5s.

[f..4r] Charles Bowler surrendered the following land in Shipton:

To the use of Robert Adams and Mathew Adams, gentlemen, on condition that it will be void on payment of 22s 6d on 18 April next, 18 Oct 1685, 18 April and 18 Oct 1686, 18 April 1687, and £46 2s 6d on 18 Oct following. Robert and Mathew sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 16s.

Edward Tomlyn on 21 Aug 1684 surrendered through Mathew Bishop and William Edmunds his lands and holdings in the fields of Winslow containing 9 acres. To the use of Mary Tomlyn who sought admission. Fine 18s.
Mary Tomlyn surrendered a parcel of arable land in Winslow in Mill Feild being 8 ridges containing 2½ acres, the land of the vicarage east. To the use of William Edmonds of Winslow, yeoman, who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 5s.
William Edmunds and Joan his wife surrendered the land to the use of Mary Tomlyn, on condition that it will be void if they pay her 10s on 18 April next, 18 Oct 1685, 18 April and 18 Oct 1686 and 18 April 1687, and £20 10s on 18 Oct 1687.

John Duncumbe esq. sought to be admitted to a messuage in Winslow in which John Greene now lives, with such privileges of ingress etc. as appears in a surrender by Michael Norman deceased to the use of John Blechly deceased, late husband of Emma Greene now wife of John Greene. They came into the lord's hands by surrender of John and Emma Greene enrolled at the court on 26 Oct 1683. Seisin was granted to John on condition mentioned in the surrender. Rent [blank], fine 5s.

William Eden on 16 Oct inst. surrendered through Robert Gibbs and Robert Spooner:

To the use of William Eden his son who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 20s.

Edmund Paxton surrendered a half-acre of arable land with the Head belonging to it in New Mill Feild at Greate Hawkeslow, the land of John Kinniston north, Mr Lowndes south. To the use of Robert Spooner who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 1s.

Robert Adams sought to be admitted to the land in the parish of Winslow near Granborow bridge, abutting on the public road leading from Winslow to the bridge to the west, Granborow brooke to the south, containing 9 acres. And the land near Claydon bridge abutting on the public road leading from Winslow to the bridge on the south, part adjoining Claydonbrooke, containing 3 acres. It came into the lord's hands on the surrender of Silvester Claver enrolled at the court on 11 April last. Rent [blank], fine 8s.

[f.4v] John Meakes surrendered a messuage and barn and 5½ acres of land in Winslow, except for a half-acre of ley in Demorum Feild, lately John Dandridge deceased's. To his own use for his life, then to Joseph Meakes in perpetuity. Rent [blank], fine 20s.

Sarah Partridge spinster by John Nonne gent. her attorney and Thomas Tomlyn surrendered a small parcel of land or "Garden Plott shooteing" from the house and garden of Mary Tomlyn to the fence of John Hewett, "taking in the boxtree and leaving out the Sickamore". To the use of the said Mary Tomlyn who sought admission. Rent [blank], fine 1s.
