Notes

According to the Bucks Herald (24 Aug 1889) George Wilmore (as they wrote his name) was a dairyman and "a general favourite on account of the straightforwardness of his character as well as his genial and good humoured disposition". His death was registered as Willmore, and his age given as 70. He was baptised in 1819, son of Richard and Sarah Willmore. He was the brother of Richard Willmore (d.1883).

The 1871 Census records him as an agricultural labourer aged 49 living at 32 Sheep Street with his wife Eliza (aged 52, b. Shenley) and children Thomas (28, b. East Claydon), George (22, b. Winslow), James (16), Clara (12) and Susan (12). In 1881 he was still there, now a widower aged 60 living with only his son George, both described as agricultural labourers. He must have rented some land on which to keep a small number of cows, possibly from the glebe land.
