Notes
George Whichello was aged 94 when he died. The 1911 Census shows him living alone at "3 Vicarage Lane" (now 11 Vicarage Road), where he had lived since before 1901. He previously lived at 12 Horn Street (1841-91), originally with his mother Margaret (d.1869 aged 82). He was born at Dartford, but he was the grandson of Abiel Whichello (d.1811), and a descendant of the bankrupt lawyer Ferdinando Southam. For more about the family, see Joseph Whichello of Winslow and the Indian Mutiny. George's sister Sarah married William Claridge at Brentford in 1844, and their children were born in London.
The Whichello Trust has now been incorporated in the Winslow Charities. George Whichello was largely responsible for keeping Keach's Meeting House open, and can be seen below standing inside the building. There is a plaque on the wall commemorating him.
