In the name of God Amen the three and Twentyth day of November in the year of our Lord God one Thousand Six hundred eighty and five I William Townsend Senior of Shipton in the parrish of Winslow in the County of Bucks husbandman, being weake of body, but of perfect minde and Memory, thanks be given unto God therefore:  calling unto mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that it is appoynted for all men once to dye, do make and ordain this  my last will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first and principally, I give my soule into the hands of God who gave it to me; and for my body I commend  it to the earth to be buried in Christian and decent manner in the church yard of the parrish Church of Winslow, nothing doubting but at the generall resurrection I shall receive the same againe by the Mighty power of God, and as touching such wordly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give devise, bequeath, and dispose the same in manner and form following: First I give and bequeath unto Jane Townsend my wife, all and singular my goods, wares, household stuff, ready money, Leases, chattels, Implements, and also corne, hay, pease, beanes, and crops of corn or pease and all other things alive or dead whatsoever, as well moveable or immoveable, both real and personal whatsoever they be and in whose hands, custody or possession soever the same or any of them, or any part of them can or may be found remaining and being, as well in the Messuage or tenement with the Appurtanances wherein I do dwell, as in any other place or house whatsoever, and of this my Last Will I do make and ordain my well beloved Wife Jane Townsend my full and whole executrix, and I do hereby utterly disalow, revoke and annul all and every other former Testaments, wills Legacies bequests and executors by me in any wise before this time named, willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and Testament.   In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and year above written.

Notes

William Tounsend was buried at Winslow on 26 Dec 1690. The baptism of Henry, son of William Townsend and Jane Line his wife, was recorded on 3 June 1648 (followed by numerous other children). Their son William was apprenticed in London in 1679. See Jane's will (proved 1707).
