Notes

Henry Smith was the valet of Captain Lambton at Redfield. They are listed together in London in the 1921 Census at 4a Palace Mansions, evidently the Lambtons' London flat. Henry was then a widower aged 66 years 1 month, born at Charlton Adam (written "Churton Addam"), Somerset. He must have been an ex-soldier, which is probably how he became connected to Lambton. He was probably the Mr. H. Smith of 3 Redfield Cottages whose furniture was sold in Feb 1914 because he was "giving up housekeeping", after the death of his wife Elizabeth aged 58. He appears as Captain Lambton's butler in the 1903 Kelly's Directory. His relatives don't seem to have lived in Winslow.
