Notes
Edith Jane Jones (b.1868) was the daughter of William James Jones (d.1886), from whom she inherited extensive property in Winslow including the former Three Pigeons. In 1910 she owned 27-31 High Street, 5 Vicarage Road, 1 Church Street, as well as various agricultural land and buildings.
In 1911 Edith was living at Moreton House, Vale Square, Ramsgate with her mother and a sick nurse. Her sisters Frances and Clara were living in Streatham. She must have returned to Winslow to make her will in 1922.
S.P. Wigley valued the property of Edith and her sisters in 1919, with a view to sale; read more.
Clara was living with her and died on 11 May 1926 aged 56, leaving Elizabeth Spratling as her executrix. Edith's house in Ramsgate was advertised for sale by order of the executors in September 1926.
The birth of Thirza Leah Connell was registered at Holborn in 1909.
A lawsuit about the Jones family property was still going on in 1953; read more.
