In the name of God Amen I Richard Bancks of the Towne of Wynslo in the Coun(ty) of Buck' beinge sicke in body but sounde in mynde thanks be to god do make this my last will and Testament in maner and forme followinge First I bequeathe my Soule unto almighty god, and my Body to be buryed in the Churcheyarde of Wynslo aforesaid Item I geve to my Brother John Bancks of Wynslo aforesaid a Syethe w(i)th a s[ne]de and half a dosen of spiers lyinge in my yarde Item I geve to the poore of Wynslo xij d Item I gyve to my wyfe Alyce Bancks the house wherin I now dwell with all and singuler thapp(ur)tenauncs therunto belonginge situate in Wynslo aforesaid duringe her naturall lyfe And I do further geve unto my said wife all and singuler the rest of my goodes and Chattells whatsoever not before herin bequeathed whom I make my full Executrix of this my last will and Testament, written the xth day of Aprill in the year of our lord god 1593 and in the xxxvth yeare of the Reigne of our Sov(er)eigne Lady Elizabeth by the grace of god of England Fraunce and Ireland Queene defender of the Faythe ye witnesses herunto Philip Favor clerk vicar of Wynslo aforesaid and Peter Fige gent

Notes

The burials for 1593 are missing but John Banks was buried at Winslow on 17 Sep 1598 and Alice Banks on 15 Feb 1604/5. Richard Banks married Alice Brellsell [?Brinsall] at Winslow on 4 Nov 1571

Syethe w(i)th a s[ne]de = scythe with a sned (i.e. a shaft for the scythe)

spiers = spire: a spar or pole of timber (OED, spire n.2, 1a)
