A true and perfect inventory of all the goods chattells money and credditts of Benjamin Anstee of Shippon in the parrish of Winslow in the County of Bucks Weaver lately deceased as they weer vallued and preased by Richard Phipes Charles Bowler and Richard Ginger the eighteenth day of June in the second yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigns William and Mary King and queen of Endgland Scotland France and Ireland defenders of the Faith and in the yeare of our Lord God 1690

Notes

Benjamin Anstead was buried on 17 June 1690. He made a surrender of his property in favour of his wife on 23 April 1690. His only child mentioned in the parish registers is a daughter Alice, b.1665, d.1667, but when his widow Cicely died in 1701 her heir was her daughter Elizabeth wife of Thomas Wallis.

Benjamin (who had a brother William and sister Mary; see 1666 manor court) was the son of Thomas Anstey:

The View of Franke pledge w(i)th the Court  Baron of John Bouden Will(ia)m Coleman & Michaell Norman Lords of the Mann(o)r aforesaid there holden one Wednesday the fifth day of October in the yeare of Our Lord One Thousand Six hundred Fifty nyne & by adiurnm(en)t on Tuesday the seaven & Twentith day of March in the yeare of Our Lord One Thousand Six hundred sixty by Francis Clerke gent Steward there It is thus inrolled

To this Court came Thomas Anstey & desireth of the Lords of this Mannor aforesaid to be admitted unto Fower acres of land lyinge in Winslow called Coldam & alsoe One halfe acre of Meadow lyinge in Shipton in Newleane wh(i)ch were heretofore amongst other lands Thereto say the Fifteenth day of August in the yeare of our Lord One Thousand six hundred Fifty seaven  surrendered into the hands of the said Lords of the Mannor aforesaid by the hands of John Babyn & John Hobcroft Two customary Ten(a)nts of the Mann(o)r aforesaid To the use & behoofe of Alice Anstey wife of him the said Benjamen [=Thomas] for terme of her life & after decease To the use and behoofe of Benjamen Anstey his Sonne & his heires for ever upon condicon That if the said Benjamen the sonne his heires or assignes should not well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the aforesaid Thomas Anstey his Brother the Some of Sixty pounds of lawfull english money w(i)thin Twelve months next after the decease of the said Alice then the said lands called Coldam And the said halfe acre of Meadow Newleane to the use and behoofe of the said Thomas Anstey & his heires for ever as in & by the said surrender p(re)sented by the Homage at a Court holden for the Mann(o)r aforesaid the seaventh of October in the said yeare of our Lord One Thousand six hundred Fifty seaven & the roles of the Same Court recorded more plainly appeareth And for as much as the said Benjamen the Sonne Did herein oppen Court Acknowlidge the aforesaid premisses surrend(e)red To the use of the said Thomas upon cond(i)con as aforesaid were become forfeited to the said Thomas for the nonpaym(en)t of the said Sixty pounds the said Alice his mother beinge dead above Twelve monthes before & did desire of the Lords of the Said Mann(o)r that ye said Thomas might be accordingly admitted to the premisses to w(hi)ch said Thomas p(re)sent here in Court the said Lords by their Steward have granted thereof Saisen To hold to the said Thomas & his heires for ever by the rodd at the will of the Lords according to the custome of the Mann(o)r aforesaid by  rent herriott & other services therefore due & of right accustomed And he giveth to the Lord for a fyne for such estate soe had ixs And is thereof admitted Ten(a)nte And hath made to the Lords his fealty
