Posse Comitatus, 1798
The Posse Comitatus was drawn up by the Sheriff of Bucks in Feb. 1798. It was a survey of men aged between 15 and 60 who weren’t already serving in a military capacity, along with draught horses, waggons and carts – in preparation for a French invasion. The whole Posse Comitatus for Bucks was published as Bucks Record Society vol.22 and can be downloaded here (opens in new window).
