[p.188] 1906 Febry 7 A Meeting of the Parish Council was held in the Yeates Schoolroom on Wednesday the 7th February 1906. Present Mr. A. J. Clear (Chairman) Revd. W. F. Armstrong, Messrs. W. R. Monk, W. H. Stevens, J. Varney, J. White , C. Watson, & W. T. Walker.
The Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Precept On the proposition of Revd. W. F. Armstrong seconded by Mr. W. Monk a precept for £10 on the Overseers for the purposes of the Parish Council was signed.
Avenue Road A letter received from Dr. Vaisey asking the Parish Council to request the R.D. Council to kerb & channel the Avenue Road, having been read, Mr. John Varney proposed & Mr. C. Watson seconded that the Clerk be directed to reply that in the opinion of the Parish Council the application should be made by Dr. Vaisey to the R.D. Council direct.

Winslow Charities On the motion of Mr. W. R. Monk seconded by Mr. A. J. Clear, Mr. Thomas Walker was unanimously re-elected a Trustee of the Winslow Charities as one of the Parish Council representatives.
Parish Constables The names of Edward Wilson, Blacksmith and John Warner, Porter, were nominated by the Parish Council as fit and qualified persons for the Office of Parish Constable.
Room for Meetings The Clerk was directed to enquire terms of Mr. Fulks & the Oddfellows Society, for the use of a Room for Parish Council Meetings.
[different handwriting] Mr. J. Varney proposed and Mr. J. White seconded that the silver prize whistle be handed into \the keeping/ Mr. G. Hancock the Captain of the brigade for his use as Captain. This was carried unanimously.
[According to the Bucks Herald, the Winslow Fire Brigade won this at a competition in High Wycombe in 1873.]

1906 April 11 The Annual Meeting of the Parish Council was held in the Yeates Schoolroom on Wednesday April 11th 1906. Present H. Bullock Esq (Chairman) Messrs. A. J. Clear, W. R. Monk, W. H. Stevens, J. Varney, J. White & W. T. Walker.
The minutes of the last Meeting were read and confirmed.
Overseers Mr. J. Varney proposed and Mr. J. White seconded that Messrs. S. D. Bird & Geo Robinson be appointed Overseers.
Mr. W. T. Walker proposed and Mr. J. Varney seconded that Messrs. Ll: Lloyd and John Dickins be appointed Overseers.
On these four names being put to the Meeting they were unanimously appointed to that office.
Accounts The Clerk presented the accounts of the Parish Council for the year ended March 31st 1906 showing a Credit balance of £11:1:10.
Winslow Roads Mr. J. Varney moved that the attention of the County Council be called to the unsatisfactory state of the roads in Winslow. Mr. Josh. White seconded & it was unanimously carried.
Rooms Terms for hire of a Room for Parish Council Meetings were produced as follows, Messrs. Fulks for
[p.191] Yeates Room 2/6. \per night/ Mr. F. Lomas on behalf of the Oddfellows Society £1 per annum.
Mr. W. H. Stevens proposed & Mr. W. T. Walker seconded that the offer of the Oddfellows Society be accepted. Carried.
Engine House Mr. W. Walker presented a list of Repairs required to the Engine House, the consideration of which was deferred until the next meetings upon the proposal of Mr. John Varney seconded by Mr. A. J. Clear

Engine House Repairs Mr. J. Varney proposed that the consideration of repairing the Engine House be again adjourned in the absence of Mr. J. W. Ingram & W. T. Walker. This was seconded by Mr. Clear & carried.
[p.192] Proposed Gift of Barometer Mr. W. H. Stevens proposed & Mr. W. R. Monk seconded that the Clerk be directed to write Sir E.H. Verney thanking him for his kind offer to present a Public Barometer & asking if the expense of erecting the same was intended to be included; & enquiring if the Engine House would be a suitable site. Carried unanimously.
Resignation On the proposition of Mr. W. T. Walker seconded by Mr. J. White the resignation of the Revd. W. F. Armstrong on his removal from the Parish was accepted.
Member Mr. J. Varney proposed that Mr. Geo Robinson be elected a member of the Parish Council to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Revd. W. F. Armstrong. Mr. W. H. Stevens seconded and it was carried.
Engine House Mr. W. T. Walker now being in attendance Mr. W. H. Stevens moved that Messrs. Cripps, Keys, Gibbs & W. Roads be asked to tender for repairs to Engine House. Mr. A. J. Clear seconded this & it was unanimously agreed.

[p.193] 1906 August 1 A Meeting of the Parish Council was held in the Oddfellows Hall on Wednesday 1st August 1906. Present Mr. A. J. Clear (Chairman) Messrs. W’ H. Stevens, Geo Robinson, J. Varney, Chas Watson & W. T. Walker.
The Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Declaration Mr. Geo Robinson signed the Declaration of acceptance of office.
Public Barometer The Clerk read a reply from Sir E. Verney with regard to keeping the Barometer in repair. Mr. W. H. Stevens proposed and Mr. C. Watson seconded that the Parish Council undertake to keep the Barometer in repair if fixed on the Bell Hotel. Carried.
Precept On the proposition of Mr. John Verney seconded by Mr. W. T. Walker a Precept for £10 on the Overseers for the purposes of the Parish Council was signed.
Engine House Mr. W. T. Walker proposed that the tender of Mr. Wm. Roads for the Repairs at the Engine House specified in Sections 1 & 2 be accepted. Mr. Chas Watson seconded and it was carried.

[p.194] 1906 Novr 7 A Meeting of the Parish Council held in the Oddfellows Hall on Wednesday the 7th November 1906. Present Mr. A. J. Clear (Chairman) Messrs. Jno Varney, C. Watson, Josh White & W. T. Walker.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Engine House Mr. W. T. Walker reported that he with Mr. J. W. Ingram had inspected the work at the Engine House & found the same satisfactorily completed & proposed that Mr. Wm Roads account £8:7:6 for same be discharged. Mr. C. Watson seconded this & it was agreed & cheque drawn for amount.
Hour of Meeting Mr. J. White proposed and Mr. Chas Watson seconded that the hour of meeting for the Winter months be the same as for the Summer, namely 7 o’clock & it was agreed.
Churchyard Path Mr. J. Varney proposed that the attention of the R. District council be called to the state of the path on the North or Bowling Green side of the Churchyard. Mr. Wm Walker seconded & it was carried.
Footpath past Piccadilly Mr. John Varney proposed that the attention of the Owners be called to the state of the Footpath past Piccadilly to Swanbourne, the Clerk to write to Mr. T. P. Willis on the subject. Mr. J. White seconded & it was agreed.
[p.195] Stiles & Footpaths Mr. W. Walker proposed and Mr. J. Varney seconded that Mr. W. H. Stevens and Mr. J. W. Ingram be appointed to inspect the Stiles & Footpaths in this parish & in particular those at the Nordens Buildings, & on Mr. McCorquodale’s Land & report to the next meeting. Carried.
It was unan agreed that the Clerk write with expressions of sympathy from this Council to Mr. H. Bullock (Chairman) in the bereavement he has recently sustained. [This was the death of his wife.]

Parish meeting (Lighting & Watching)
1906 Nov 7th A Parish Meeting called for the purposes of the Lighting and Watching Act 3 & 4 Wm IV & for taking into consideration the amount of money to be raised for the purposes of the said Act for the current year in this Parish was held in the Oddfellows Hall on Wednesday 7th Novemr 1906. Present Mr. Alfred J. Clear (Chairman) Messrs. J. Varney, C. Watson, W. J. Walker & Josiah White.
The Notice calling for the Meeting was read.
The Minutes of the last Parish Meeting were read & confirmed.
Mr. J. Varney proposed & Mr. J. White seconded that a sum not exceeding £130 be raised for the purposes of the Lighting & Watching Act for the ensuing Year. Carrd unan.

Churchyard Path The Clerk was directed to write in reply to the enquiry of Winslow R.D. Council that the Churchyard Path required the hollow places to be filled, levelled & rolled.
[p.196] Stiles The Clerk was directed to call the attention of Lord Addington to the Stiles leading from the Poors Allotment into Buckingham Road & also the attention of Mr. McCorquodale to the Stiles & footboards on his property.
Barometer Mr. C. Watson proposed a vote of thanks to Sir E. H. Verney for the gift of Barometer which had now been fixed on the Market Square. Mr. J. White seconded.
